What is this error?
ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED is a Google Chrome error indicating that the browser is unable to connect to the internet through a specified proxy server. This issue often arises when the proxy settings are misconfigured or the proxy server is unavailable.
How to Fix It
- Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that your device is connected to the internet. Try accessing a website without using the proxy to confirm your connection.
- Disable Proxy Settings:
- Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
- Select "Settings." Scroll down and click on "Advanced."
- Under "System," click "Open your computer's proxy settings."
- In the Internet Properties window, navigate to "Connections" and click on "LAN settings."
- Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN" and click "OK."
- Reset Chrome Settings: Go back to Chrome's "Settings," scroll to the bottom and click on "Advanced." Under "Reset and clean up," select "Restore settings to their original defaults."
- Clear Browsing Data: Click on the three-dot menu, go to "More tools," and click "Clear browsing data." Choose "All time" and select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data." Click "Clear data."
- Restart Your Device: Reboot your computer or device to ensure that any changes to the settings take effect.
- Check for VPN or Firewall Interference: Temporarily disable any VPNs or firewalls to see if they are causing connection issues, and re-enable them afterward.
