Topic: Google Chrome Connection Errors | Status: Updated

What is this error?

ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED is a Google Chrome error indicating that the browser is unable to connect to the internet through a specified proxy server. This issue often arises when the proxy settings are misconfigured or the proxy server is unavailable.

How to Fix It

  1. Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that your device is connected to the internet. Try accessing a website without using the proxy to confirm your connection.
  2. Disable Proxy Settings:
    • Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
    • Select "Settings." Scroll down and click on "Advanced."
    • Under "System," click "Open your computer's proxy settings."
    • In the Internet Properties window, navigate to "Connections" and click on "LAN settings."
    • Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN" and click "OK."
  3. Reset Chrome Settings: Go back to Chrome's "Settings," scroll to the bottom and click on "Advanced." Under "Reset and clean up," select "Restore settings to their original defaults."
  4. Clear Browsing Data: Click on the three-dot menu, go to "More tools," and click "Clear browsing data." Choose "All time" and select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data." Click "Clear data."
  5. Restart Your Device: Reboot your computer or device to ensure that any changes to the settings take effect.
  6. Check for VPN or Firewall Interference: Temporarily disable any VPNs or firewalls to see if they are causing connection issues, and re-enable them afterward.
